Review: La Laguna- Canggu/Seminyak, Bali

If you’re looking for a romantic, quirky and relaxed setting to eat, drink, relax and watch the beautiful Balinese sunsets then La Laguna is definitely the place for you.

Nathan booked La Laguna without me knowing and I could not have been more excited and enthralled as we walked up the winding path to the restaurant which is lined with beautiful old travellers carts- each one completely different.

When you arrive into the main area, the theme continues in such an effortless, cool way with heaps of different seating areas and loads of little bars. They somehow manage to make you feel like each section is a separate, cosy and intimate area when the place is actually pretty huge by restaurant standards.

We chose to sit on the little bridge over the lagoon which was a very romantic setting as there are only two small tables in this area. The tables feature hand-painted floral designs and absolutely everything fits the rustic feel- right down to the blue peacock embroidered napkins. Attention to detail is ridiculously good at La Laguna.

As if the incredible setting, design and location (right on the beach) of the place wasn’t enough- the food was some of the best we ate throughout the whole of our time in Bali (and we ate a lot of food).

They have a tapas style menu and it’s very fancy, a la carte dining (my favourite). We ordered quite a selection of tapas to share and were not disappointed by anything! The tuna tataki was a particular favourite of mine which you should definitely try. La Laguna also has an incredible cocktail menu and plenty of other drink options- from fresh squeezed juices to beers so there’s something for everyone.

Just when we thought this place could not be anymore perfect, sweet or romantic- the sun started to set. The view over the lagoon, the beach, and from their beautiful jetty which is adorned with fairy lights and also has hand decorated flowers all over it, was one of the best places to watch the sunset that we found in the whole of Bali.

As you can see from the pictures- La Laguna is possibly the most beautiful restaurant in Bali in my opinion. It has a lovely bohemian vibe which makes you feel totally comfortable and relaxed whilst also offering the sort of fine dining that you would expect to find in a gourmet city restaurant. For a romantic date, a chilled evening with a group of friends, or even as a fun experience for solo travellers- it would be a shame to visit the Canggu or Seminyak areas and not stop off here!
